Glad to see a bunch of people joining the Daniel Challenge. We have exciting days ahead of us!
Thought I would share a couple things.
First, my basic smoothie recipe. This is for two fairly large glasses.
1 Banana, 1 Apple, 4-5 frozen strawberries, 11-12 ice cubes. After these ingredients have been added to the blender I pour in fruit juice, usually grape, grape-cranberry, or apple, up to approximately the 1.5-2 cup mark on the blender. (Citrus juices don’t work so well with the fruits I use.) Depending on your blender you may have to stop and push the ingredients down into the blades. This recipe results in a very cold, pretty thick smoothie which is just what I like. If you don’t want it thick and cold then don’t add as much ice. Enjoy! (For variety feel free to add additional or different fruit. We have used blueberries, a berry mix, some melons, etc. Be creative and make up your own favorite!)
Now, for a funny story that happened just this morning.
I started my Daniel Challenge today so I couldn’t eat my normal granola cereal because it has some added brown sugar or something like that. So, I decided to make some oatmeal. Since I didn’t feel like I should use our rice milk (I think it has sweetener added) I decided to put some fruit on the cereal and eat it without milk. Therefore I cut up ½ a banana, added some raisins and cut up a date on top and mixed it all in. I drink carrot juice at breakfast so I grabbed the carrot juice from the frig and proceeded to pour it on my oatmeal!!! When I realized it I started laughing at myself and then poured some in my glass. I thought about throwing the bowl of oatmeal and carrot juice away but, realizing that I’m way too cheap to waste perfectly good food, I took it to the table and ate it. Kind of a strange mixture but it wasn’t too bad, in fact, since I like carrot juice it was actually okay.
So, now you have my recipe and the “laugh out loud” moment of my day.
Have fun living the Daniel Challenge and enjoy some close times with God!
