Roberta and I are excited to go on this 21 day journey. We believe that God will meet with us and He will touch our lives in new ways. Whenever we have made a decision to give up something to draw closer to Him it ends up being an powerful experience! It will be a challenge for sure because we are confronted with how much control or power some food, beverage or activity has in our lives. Even though it can be tough, we anticipate God visiting us and bringing His blessing into our lives.
Here are a couple things that have helped us. First, don't just make a commitment for the length of time you feel like you can do, ask God to tell you the length of time He wants you to do. Generally He will ask you to go longer so it becomes a triumph of His grace in you instead of just your human effort. Second, take one day at a time. God can definitely help you through one day. When the next day starts, trust Him again for that new day. Third, if you have a bad day and are not as successful as you wanted to be just go ahead and get back into it the next day. Don't let satan trick you into giving up. Remember, God loves you, wants to spend time with you and He is simply waiting for you to join Him again in the journey. Last, ask someone to join you in your experience. The Bible tells us that "two are better than one" so invite a friend, or your spouse if you are married, to go on the journey and spend some of the prayer times together. You will be amazed at how wonderful it will be to be encouraging to one another in your pursuit of a deeper relationship with the Lord.
Well, have a great journey with the Lord! Roberta and I will be anxious to read and hear your stories.
